We gave away more than 2,000 recipes and got almost 600 Barefoot Republic sign ups!!! Way to go foot fans!!! Lets welcome them to the family when they join!

Thank you to all of our new Sole Patrollers who contributed with this event!! Enjoy some pictures!

  • Walk MS 2009: Southern California

    Mar 23, 2009

    team_barefoot_originalHey Barefoot Republic!

As you all know, we love non-profits and we love working with different groups in the community to help make the world a better place through wine!  Well, one group that I've been working with for several years is the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

About 6 years ago my aunt got diagnosed with MS and then, only 3 months later, my mom was as well!  Unfortunately these weren't the only two cases of MS in my family, my grandfather had it too.  So I felt like I wanted to support the cause since it hits home with me.

I decided to leverage the Barefoot name to help raise money for one of our local So Cal Chapters and created Team Barefoot! In April, Team Barefoot will be raising money to help fight MS!  We have a goal of $5000!   We'll also be going on the MS Walks that they have throughout April to show our support!

    There are 3 walks:

Everyone in the Barefoot Republic is welcome to join us on April 26 while we walk BAREFOOT at Legoland!!  For more information or to make a donation please follow the link to our team page!

We hope to see everyone there!!

  • Sweet Potato Queens "Get Barefoot"

    Mar 18, 2009

    031508_yum_originalHey Foot-Fans!

I'm off to Jackson, Mississippi this morning to help thousands of Sweet Potato Queens ‘Get Barefoot' during the official Sweet Potato Queens® & Mal's St. Paddy's Parade this weekend!

Please check out the weekend agenda and list of activities: http://www.sweetpotatoqueens.com/parade/

On Friday, we are going to be serving Barefoot Mojitos made with California Moscato. The recipe can be found on the barefootwine.com website recipe section. Try it! It's better than rum Mojitos with a quarter of the alcohol!

Mark the date on your calendar now for next year's event. This event is a pre-sold event only, and you will be sure to have a GREAT time.

    Always get Barefoot!

  • Getting Barefoot On Minnesota Beaches with Tailor Taste!

    Mar 11, 2009

Tailor TasteAs I’ve said, I’ll be highlighting some wonderful beaches all across the country in the following weeks as we get closer and closer to warm weathers and getting our bare feet back on the warm sands. I’ve already posted some tid-bits (and daydreamed about) Panama City Beach and will be choosing another beach to talk about soon. Lucky Barefoot_Hiker has already visited Panama City Beach – it makes me want to visit even more!

One of our partners on the Sites We Love has so kindly sent over her review of beach life in Minnesota! Thanks to Katherine over at Tailor Taste, we get a real Minnesota resident perspective of what being Barefoot in Minnesota and their beaches is all about – check it out below!
    ---
Keeping the Beaches Barefoot-Friendly in Minnesota – we do have some beaches ya know.  Yah we sure do.  Especially on our very Superior Lake.  Minnesota actually has about 20,000 lakes and we are a very outdoors oriented group of people here.  Every suTailor Tastemmer everyone is at their cabin in the Northern Woods, sitting by a fire, fishing and more.  And even in the winter, I see people snow shoeing and cross country skiing on the city lakes here, even wind surfing on a snow board.  It’s totally a state of outsdoors people, with active lifestyles who care about our imprint on our land and waters.
One of my favorite ways to enjoy the outdoors is with friends, most of
all by a bonfire on the lake.  And at said bonfire with friends, you’ll probably find a couple bottles of wine (my favorite being Barefoot’s Sauv Blanc).  I love eating and I don’t mind a nice glass of wine with my food as well.  I’m hoping to get Surfrider to bring Minnesota into their action committee and include us in their scope of keeping beaches clean and protected.

Make sure to visit her blog at Tailor Taste and add her as a friend here on the Barefoot Republic and get bare foot with a fellow Barefooter!

  • Springing Forward and Doing Just a Tad Bit More

    Mar 9, 2009

I can smell it already! We just turned our clocks forward one hour and somehow, that extra hour of natural light seems to also bring that nice crisp smell of spring. It might be my over-enthusiasm for warmer weathers but I really do feel like these warmer showers will wash away the wet soggy snow.

With more daylight, I also feel more motivated to get more done. I love the energy that the natural outdoors light brings. I also can't wait to have the sun beating down on my bare feet again but before I'm able to frolic on the sands, there are always so many chores to do. I also think to myself, if only there were 25 hours in the day. If there was really that one extra hour in the day, what would you do with it? Would you just hit snooze for one more hour in the mornings? Would you actually make it to the gym? Would you stay up reading that one extra chapter? Check out our latest activity and let us know what you'd do while also earning some leis for some sweet rewards!
