  • Beach Rescue Cleanup at Asbury Park this Saturday

    Aug 25, 2009

brc_originalThe Barefoot Republic is very excited for the big Beach Rescue event happening this Saturday August 29th at Asbury Park, NJ! So many of you have already RSVPed to attend the event and we can't wait to see you there. There are so many interested volunteers that our RSVP section is now filled to max. capacity! This is really great news and we're looking forward to seeing all hands (and feet) on board this weekend on the beach. Although the beach clean-up portion is now filled, you can still RSVP for the Beach Rescue Concert via the Beach Rescue Concert website: http://www.beachrescueconcert.com/ Tickets are limited and are on a first come, first serve basis. Complete details are listed on the site. Don't miss Joss Stone, Gavin DeGraw, Cold War Kids, and Mason Jennings jamming out their tunes!

Before we all head out to Asbury Park, we thought you might like to know a few fun facts and things to do while visiting the area:

    • Take a stroll along the Asbury Park Boardwalk. It is currently in the process of revitalization and has recently been connected to the neighboring town of Ocean Grove, NJ.
    • Once known as the "Crown Jewel" of the Jersey Shore, Asbury Park is gearing up for a big comeback with its revitalization and should be near finished by the end of 2009.
    • Asbury Park is the birth home of Bruce Springsteen, Danny Devito and Jack Nicholson.
    • Try to catch it while the old buildings still exist, like "Madame Marie's" brightly painted fortune telling booth made famous by Bruce Springsteen.

Will you be at the cleanup and/or the Beach Rescue Concert? If you are, let us know and what you're looking forward to about this fun day!

  • Congrats to Santa Barbara!

    Aug 17, 2009

    25thanniversarylogo_lr_originalHey Footers!

A big congratulations goes out to the Santa Barbara Chapter of the Surfrider Foundation, who doubled their donation through the Barefoot Wine Beach Rescue Project!

With nearly 20,000 votes, Santa Barbara’s campaign to help preserve the Gaviota shoreline came out on top!  In celebration of Surfrider Foundation’s 25th anniversary, Barefoot Wine committed $25,000 to support four local beach-specific campaigns.  The three other campaigns will also receive $5,000 to put toward their efforts.  They include: Challenging Beach Management Permitting Practices: Stop Harmful Beach Fill Projects (Florida), Clearing the Path/Beach Access (Hawaii), and Sinking the Breakwater/Restore the Shore (California).

Thank you to all who voted!  Barefoot raises a glass to Surfrider’s Santa Barbara Chapter.

    Congratulations!

We can't believe how quickly the Summer has gone - it's been so much fun traveling around the country for the Barefoot Wine Beach Rescue Project.  We hope to see all of you out in Asbury Park on August 29th, but in the meantime, take a look at some footage from the cleanup this morning!

It's Friday and it's a great reason to kick back and be happy! The weekend is just around the corner and we hope all Barefooters will be having a blast enjoying the dog days of summer.

We asked our friends on our Facebook fan page what some of their favorite toe-sts were and many shared some delightful phrases that all of us could benefit from when the the occasion calls for a good toe-st amongst friends and family! We'll be sharing 5 wonderful toe-sts submitted by Barefooters with you each Friday so make sure to check back for some Barefoot cheer!
