We hope everyone is enjoying the first Friday of this Fall season! It's time to see those leaves turn bright reds, oranges, and yellows up in the Northeast coast and the winds are cooling all around. There is so much to look forward to in the months ahead as we begin to think about family gatherings with warm hearty meals and good wine on hand! With lots of great major holidays coming up with friends and family to be gathered, we would like to share some great toe-sts that can made at your celebrations!

  • Beach Rescue Concert - It's a Wrap!

    Sep 22, 2009

On Saturday, August 29, Barefoot Wine and the Surfrider Foundation celebrated the culmination of 25 beach cleanups from coast-to-coast with a Beach Rescue Concert featuring performances by Mason Jennings, Cold War Kids, Gavin DeGraw and Joss Stone.

More than 250 volunteers braved Tropical Storm Danny to help keep the Jersey Shore “barefoot-friendly.”  That evening, more than 3,000 fans enjoyed the show!

Please check out the slide show above for some great shots from the event of people cleaning the beach, sampling Barefoot Wine & Bubbly and rocking out to the amazing musical performances.  A special thanks to everyone who spent the day with us.  Together we are helping keep America’s beaches barefoot-friendly!

Stay tuned for updates on the 2010 Barefoot Wine Beach Rescue Project.

    Cheers,

Jen Wall and your friends at Barefoot

  • Greetings from Lodi

    Sep 21, 2009

    Hey Foot Fans!

I spent Friday morning in Lodi checking out our fruit. The ZIN clusters are beautiful!!!

We're already picking some of the fruit in this region, and will continue doing so through the end of next week. The flavors are intense, jammy, and have mostly black fruits. The skins are thin and not too chewy, just what we are looking for.

While in Lodi I also visited some Petit Sirah and Petit Verdot vineyards which will be tremendous assets to us this year when blending our wines. These wines will give us color, depth, texture and body.

You are going to love the 2009 wines!

    Cheers,

  • Harvest Update!

    Hi Foot Fans!

We are right in the middle of harvest and the 2009 vintage is looking GREAT! Barefoot Sauvignon Blanc has elegant melon and citrus with a hint of jalapeño flavors.

The 2009 Barefoot Pinot Noir is fantastic! It’s true to the varietal characteristics, has great flavor and is silky in the mouth. I’m excited to share it with you!

All of the wines are going to be terrific this year and we will continue to deliver wines that are varietally correct, food friendly and fruit forward. I’m looking forward to your feedback, so when you get a chance, leave a comment below (or on our Facebook wall!) to let me know what you think about our wines!

    Cheers,
    Jen

  • The Big Morning Stretch

    Sep 10, 2009

Jogging on the beachFall weather is strolling into town letting us know that beach season is slowly winding down. Volleyball season may be over and the sand may be cooling down but it's perfect weather to take those refreshing morning jogs.

Before you decide to hit the pavement or beach with your running shoes, it's always wise to do some stretches to prevent damage on the muscles. There are many great warm-up routines that can get you on the right way to a good fitness work-out. Here are just a few pointers:

    • Arm Swings
      1. Stand tall and hold arms out to your side.
      2. Slowly swing your arms back and forth across the front of your body.
      3. Repeat this continuous motion for 30 seconds.
    • Trunk Rotations
      1. Stand with a shoulder width stance. Place hands on hips.
      2. With knees slightly bent, turn from side to side keeping feet firmly on the floor.
      4. Complete a total of 15-20 full swings.
    • Full Back Stretch
      1. Lie on your back and bring both your knees to your chest with hands clasped under back of knees.
      2. Roll forwards until your feet touch the floor and then immediately roll back until just before your head touches the floor.
      3. Continue until you complete 10-15 full rolls.
    • Leg Swings
      1. Start by standing with your feet shoulder width apart.
      2. Keeping your upper body perpendicular to the ground swing one leg forward and backward.
      3. Do not swing your leg so hard that you cannot keep your upper body from moving.
      4. Repeat for 10 full swings and repeat on other leg.

    5. You can also swing your leg across your body stretching the abductors and adductors.

For more great stretch routines, visit Sports Fitness Advisor.

Running along the seaside with the bright morning sun is probably one of the best natural views that you just can't get running on the treadmill indoors. We hope you're all staying fit and taking advantage of the cool Fall season! Feel free to share any stretches and/or warm-up routines that you like to follow and have worked out well for you!
