Brr! While most people are sporting coats, scarves and hats these days, we're already thinking about when we're heading to the beach this summer! 2010 marks the fourth year of the Barefoot Wine Beach Rescue Project, and we'll be sticking with our tradition of hosting cleanups to make America's beaches and lakes "barefoot-friendly." Check back often for updates on the 2010 schedule and how you can get involved at cleanups in your local community.

Big thank you to all of you who hit the beach with us and Surfrider Foundation this year. We hope you all will join us on the beach next year.
On Saturday, August 29, Barefoot Wine and the Surfrider Foundation celebrated the culmination of 25 beach cleanups from coast-to-coast with a Beach Rescue Concert featuring performances by Mason Jennings, Cold War Kids, Gavin DeGraw and Joss Stone.
More than 250 volunteers braved Tropical Storm Danny to help keep the Jersey Shore “barefoot-friendly.” That evening, more than 3,000 fans enjoyed the show!

A big congratulations goes out to the Santa Barbara Chapter of the Surfrider Foundation, who doubled their donation through the Barefoot Wine Beach Rescue Project!
With nearly 20,000 votes, Santa Barbara’s campaign to help preserve the Gaviota shoreline came out on top! In celebration of Surfrider Foundation’s 25th anniversary, Barefoot Wine committed $25,000 to support four local beach-specific campaigns. The three other campaigns will also receive $5,000 to put toward their efforts. They include: Challenging Beach Management Permitting Practices: Stop Harmful Beach Fill Projects (Florida), Clearing the Path/Beach Access (Hawaii), and Sinking the Breakwater/Restore the Shore (California).
Thank you to all who voted! Barefoot raises a glass to Surfrider’s Santa Barbara Chapter.

Many thanks to all who joined us this morning to keep Seattle's Alki Beach barefoot-friendly! We had a beautiful morning out at the beach and are gearing up for the celebration at Quiksilver tonight.
We can't believe how quickly the Summer has gone - it's been so much fun traveling around the country for the Barefoot Wine Beach Rescue Project. We hope to see all of you out in Asbury Park on August 29th, but in the meantime, take a look at some footage from the cleanup this morning!

Thanks to all who came out to the Chicago cleanup this past weekend - we had a great time! Over 150 people joined us for the cleanup at Oak Street Beach to clean up Lake Michigan's shores. The weather was perfect, and a big thanks to all the volunteers we helped keep Oak Street Beach barefoot-friendly!
To celebrate everyone's hard work, we all headed over to Oak Street Beachstro where Mason Jennings performed a great lineup of songs, including his new song "Sunlight." In fact, if you purchase "Sunlight" on iTunes, proceeds will benefit the Surfrider Foundation, so check it out. Thanks again to everyone who came out!
The end of summer is fast approaching, but we still have more beaches to clean. Seattle is our next stop - can't wait to see you all there!

Hey Footers! We just got back from our awesome beach rescue cleanup and celebration in the Tampa Bay area of Florida. Over 200 people joined us for the cleanup at Upham Beach in St. Pete's Beach, FL, including the team from Publix as well as St. Pete's Beach Mayor Michael Finnerty! It was a beautiful day and we wanted to thank everyone again for coming out and making Upham Beach barefoot-friendly!
The cleanup was followed by a celebration at Cha Cha Coconuts in St. Petersburg featuring a performance from Mason Jennings as the sun went down. Thanks again to everyone who came out!
We can't believe we are already halfway through the Summer, but we are looking forward to the events still to come. Lake Michigan in Chicago is next, and we hope to see you there! In the meantime, please enjoy this clip from the cleanup.

The Barefoot Wine Beach Rescue Project is here in Huntington Beach, CA. We just wrapped up a great cleanup at Bolsa Chica State Beach. Many thanks to the volunteers who took time out to make Huntington Beach barefoot-friendly!

Exciting news!
In partnership with Surfrider Foundation & Barefoot Wine, Mason Jennings, one of our Beach Rescue friends, is donating proceeds from his new track “Sunlight” to the Surfrider Foundation for the entire duration of the Barefoot Wine Beach Rescue Project, from now until August 30, 2009!
This brand new track comes from the recording sessions for his new album due out late summer 2009.
So pick up a copy of Sunlight and know you are donating to a great cause. The single is available now on iTunes, you can snatch it up here.
