Here are my three favorite Turkey Day Treats:
Barefoot Pinot Grigio Glaze (for a gorgeous turkey)
Bring mixture to a slow simmer. Take a tablespoon of cornstarch and dissolve it in a ¼ cup of hot water and then drizzle it, while whisking into the pan. This will thicken the mixture giving it a glaze consistency. About 20 minutes before the Turkey is finished cooking, liberally brush on the glaze and return to oven. Pull the turkey out of the oven and let sit for at least 15 minutes before cutting.
Serve Barefoot Pinot Grigio, it not only works great with the turkey, it will compliment the side dishes nicely as well. Pinot Noir is also a great choice for dinner!
Barefoot Pinot Poached Pears
- 3 firm but ripe Bartlett Pears
- 3 tablespoons brown sugar,
- 3 tablespoons finely chopped crystallized ginger
- 3 cinnamon sticks
- ¼ teaspoon of nutmeg
- 4 cups of Barefoot Pinot Noir
Combine Barefoot Pinot Noir, brown sugar, ginger, cinnamon and nutmeg in a heavy large saucepan. Cover and bring to simmer. Add pears and return mixture to simmer. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer slowly until pears are tender when pierced with a knife (about 20 minutes). Using slotted spoon, transfer pears to plate to rest. When cool enough to touch, grasp the pears by the stem area and slice pears lengthwise so they can be fanned and placed on a serving plate. Serve the poached pears (1/2 pear for each guest) with a scoop of coffee ice cream and chocolate sauce drizzled over the top.
Barefoot Moscato Sweet Potatoes
- 3 lbs of sweet potatoes peeled and cubed
- ½ cup honey
- 3 tablespoons grated fresh ginger
- 2 tablespoons walnut oil
- 1 teaspoon ground Cardamom
- ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
- ½ cup Barefoot Moscato
Preheat oven to 450°F, in large glass baking dish toss together all ingredients including the ½ cup of Barefoot Moscato. Bake 20 minutes; stir the potatoes to expose the pieces from the bottom. Bake another 20 minutes, or until potatoes are tender and caramelized on the outside.
ENJOY!
